Baylor Better Together Microsite

Role: Competitive research, interaction design, user testing

Baylor, a hospital system in Texas, wanted to highlight the volunteer work their doctors were doing in the community. With this goal in mind, my company recommended building an interactive website showcasing these stories. This marketing website would include blog posts and videos featuring high profile doctors.

Since my company had a long standing relationship with Baylor and had done many projects with them, we already had a good grasp on who their users and personas are, making the discovery process for this project minimal.

Problems Solved

  1. Better communicate community involvement of doctors

  2. Better highlight high profile, influential doctors

  3. Keep users more engaged with the content

Process

Competitive analysis

I started with a competitive analysis to understand how other healthcare systems feature important doctors and their community work. Through this analysis, I found a variety of ways other hospital systems showcased doctors, for both community work and medical impacts.

Wireframes

After getting a good sense of the competitive market and what is working well throughout the industry, I moved on to wireframes. I knew these wireframes were going to be rather sparse because of the type and amount of content the client wanted to display. A goal for the wireframes was to make sure this was something that could be visually impactful and engaging to help drive the user deeper into the experience.

Interaction design, user interaction testing & visual design

Once the wireframes were complete, I knew I needed to make this more engaging than the normal digital experience because of the types of content the client was hoping to display. I started to map out the interactive experience and worked with my front end development team to finalize the concepts and confirm they were feasible within the timeline. I then walked through these plans with the designer to design and animate out.

Once the animation was complete, I did some impromptu user testing of the interactions with some of my internal team members. After making a few tweaks to the layouts, we then sent it to be developed by our front end team.

Results

The website ended up being the back bone of a strong digital campaign. But unfortunately this campaign has been postponed due to COVID-19.
